The idea of currency conversion is not a new one. We understand changing the dollar into the euro or the euro back to the dollar or the dollar into the yen. We can find currency converters online that will tell us the approximate value for one of these conversions.
We understand that there is a rate of exchange. We may get more or less of our national currency due to the relationship of value from one currency to another. Exchange rates are definitely a matter of interest in currency conversions.
What about exchanging currency into gold? Up until now, that has not been very practical. Gold has general been sold by the ounce, or maybe as a collectible coin, and the price is well over $1000 an ounce. Changing currency into gold has not been practical from a monetary standpoint for the average person. The average person with a lower paying job does not walk around with a few extra thousand of dollars in order to convert them to gold.
Nor has it been practical from a commercial standpoint. Just exactly what are you going to do with an ounce of gold. Can you go to the grocery store with it? Not unless you plan on buying a month's worth of groceries at a time, and even then, how would the grocer know if the gold is real or fool's gold?
What can you do with a collectible coin? You come across the same problem. You just can't take it to your local merchant and use it.There is a solution. Over in Germany there is a tiny form of gold called kinebar gold. Over 7000 merchants accept it in transactions. It is 999.9 pure gold kinebar, which is the highest form of gold and is accepted in currency in many nations.
This form of gold solves the conversion problem. Money, paper money, fiat money, instead of being saved in the local bank as a local currency, can be exchanged for this tiny form of gold and saved in the same vault that the Swiss government saves their assets, at St. Gotthard Massif. Or, a person can take possession of it.
Either way, conversion of currency into gold is now possible in a practical form. It has become popular in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland is now spreading to other parts of Europe and also to Canada, the United States, and around the world.
